The Tacko on mates GQ 89 model 4.2 petrol, jumps around when the engines is running at 900rpm, less at 2000rpm and less still at 3000rpm.

Is this normal, if not, is it fixable.

Thanks

Peter

its not normal but will be fixable, chaeck the wiring harness from the dissy, see that the harness is not chafed around the steel clips that hold the harness .

If its the same model as Ford Maveric they do the same problem is the IC in the tacho have tried obtaining the IC, cant get it any where it apears to be custom made for the instrument manufacturer. Had to replace tacho got one from wreckers as it wasfor 2nd hand vehicle warranty, cust wouldnt buy if not working.
