hi all, i have purchased a 7 inch gps and the screen seems to have a lot of glare in the sun light making it unreadble .
now besides putting a shade cover over it is there anything that can be put on the screen like clear contact etc, keeping in mind it is a touch screen .

thanks

I am positive that you can buy non-reflective screen protectors!

As the driver I never look at the screen, just listen to the voice directions. As the passenger, checking ETA, POI's etc., I either remove it from it's cradle, or shield it from the sun.
I reckon trying to read a GPS while driving is a recipe for disaster.

What one do you have?

Is that voice instructions for off road map tracks and fire trails as well a street/city GPS road instructions?

Like you I don't watch mine. That's the navigators/passengers job. I run Oziexplorer in mine (an in dash VMS one) and can use anything that can be scanned into the home PC and transferred to the car GPS as a map. But I do not get any voice instructions.

Also polarizing sun glasses make the screen very hard to see.

I only ever made one mistake
and that's when I thought I was wrong!

I bought a shade from ebay and it works well.

Use it on my Waeco camera monitor and also Navman S80.

Check out this link

My Navman unit (taken at night sorry about glare)

As I said the shade works well.

According to modern astronomers, space is finite..a very comforting thought particularly for people who can never remember where they left things

Don't know what the problem is but I got the same.

Link I was sending is
http://shop.ebay.com.au/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=shade+for+navman+s80&_sacat=See-All-Categories

I searched on ebay under "Shade for Navman S80", so you could modify your search to whatever the model you have.

My old mate Bill, just got out the silastic and stuck a black plastic box onto his dashboard, and put his GPS into that. Really works a treat.
Recons when he sells his Patrol, it will be worthless, as it will out see him, so he will do what he wants to do with it.
Mechanically it's perfect, that's his main priority.
1999 4.2 TD and intercooled with everything on it you can poke a stick at.
Cheers
