Thanks to everyone who responded to my post this morning, however i do have another question.
Hypothetically, say i have installed electric brakes on the trailer, have installed a techonsha or hayman reece in car controller, the trailer has a hand brake and a Treg off road override coupling. Now for the question, if the electric brakes or car controller fails,,will the override coupling work against the handbrake lever as in a mechanical braking system or am i stuck with out brakes on the trailer,
regards,
Dan.

Hi Dan
I have that configuration on my camper. Drove 6000 k's in the outback using the override before I could find a lecco to fix the 'lectrics. It worked, but only just! (loaded camper weighs about 1.5t) I don't leave the override on to act as a permanent backup, but only have to remove the locking pin and flip the lever over to turn it on.

Thanks tessa, did you have to do any adjustments to the hand brake to make this work, and did it wear it out?, my trailer won't be that heavy, i'm expecting it to only be around 800 - 850Kg when loaded, thanks for the response.

No adjustment needed initially, but I do find that I have to occasionally adjust the hand brake up anyway - corrugations I think. Had to put new shoes on when we got home!
