Looking at buying a Coromal Silhouette or similar. Found an On-Road version 2006 at around $22k and an Off-Road Version 2007 at around $26k.

What exactly is the difference and is the typical extra cost warranted.

Comments appreciated.

If they are like most "Off Road" vans of this type the main difference will be in the underpinnings (I have no direct info on Coromal units) suspension, wheels and tyres and chassis etc.

The internal fittings will be similar in both units. Weak points are the three way fridge, cupboard doors and drawers etc.

Coromal has a reputation for being one of the better builders so this may not necessarily apply to their units.

Do you ever want to take it off the tar ??

If you do, then go the off road one.....stronger chassis, bigger wheels and tyres, ( can't remember the rest )

...how about, screws and glue instead of staples (to hold interior items together). Doesn;t rea;;y matter what type of van you have, if you drive like an idiot over rough surfaces you will eventuall destroy your van and tow vehicle too. In all situations regardless of equipment, drive to the conditions i.e. ADJUST your speed and tyre pressures.

G'day Kokoda

Our Silhouette brochure lists 10 features, briefly being: stronger furniture fixing, heavier frame, ind. suspension, 50mm axle, parallel bearing set, bigger tyres, Alko elect offroad brake magnets, Treg hitch, H/d wheels, self closing cupboard doors, galv watertank protection.

Can't vouch for self closing cupbd doors but will verify rest.
Quality & durable build

Regards - Phil
