Have just purchased a 98 Prado 3.4 auto and we are looking at buying a 1992 20 foot Regal caravan to tour the main route around OZ leaving the van at a central place and going about in the fourbee. Question is, has anyone had experience with this model van, any design faults, problems with towing etc.

I have a 16 ft off road desert series van behind my 4.2 patrol Gu TD and have taken it over the roughest roads with good results however I personally think that a 20ft van is somwhat long to be exploring with. By leaving it behind you will traverse a lot of needless klm's. That's why we changed to an off rd van. It allows one to just keep travlin.
Also and this may irk, a 20 foot van behind a Prado is a case of the tail wagging the dog.
I might also add that we have been happy vanners for over 20yrs.
You just can't beat the hard sides, no flappin and out of the weather.
Enjoy your travels.

Thanks Roger
WE have no intention of getting off the beaten track with the motel on wheels not even on the
Cooktown road, would prefer to
leave at Wonga and then 4 wheel with swag to
Cooktown for example.
Every confidence in Prados capability to handle the load otherwise would not even consider a 20 footer but one likes the creature comforts.
(not bullet proof anymore)

Dont be put off by the
Cooktown road..we were there 5 yrs ago and towed our camper trailer over it.( not an offroader ) behind our 96 falcon wagon without any hassles at all...sure it was a bit rough in
places , but I believe that it has improved somewhat since then...cheers
