have just installed a new p3 in Nt Pajero, I have the older prodigy in my triton never missed a beat.
the pendulum or accellerometer or whatever its called seems faulty. when braking occasionally instead of applying an incremental voltage proportional to the vehicles braking it applies the full amount of voltage to which the p3 is set with just the slightest touch on the pedal.
it is very unsettling and i have never had this problem with the same trailer connected to my triton with the prodigy.
has anyone encountered this problem? seems like the pendulum gadget is sticking to me?
It only mounted on about a 45 degree angle so it should work fine.

I had a Voyoger on the Navara, and had trouble, (at first) with our camper locking up everywhere. As a matter of fact all over the place, it done it. Then I discovered the correct way to set it, and was trouble free for at least 3 years.
Since we have the Patrol, I put on a Pridigy, not the P3, and cannot get brakes, on the same trailer..
Have replaced all wiring, 25 amp multicore, on the trailer, and 50 amp multicore from the controller to the rear of the Patrol, and earthed everything direct to the battery, but still does not work anywhere near as effective as the Voyoger. So much so, that it's not nticeable.
(not sure if it works at all, as it does not have any effect, even when I throw the "anchor" lever) ,
Makes me wonder if I have a dud one too.
All I have to do is find someone in the town with a Prodigy, and I will ask them to swap them over for 1/2 hr, and find out for sure.
Leads to the old saying, "it wont happen overnight, but it will happen"
Or maybe I will bite the bullet, and get a Voyoger.
Do you have any hints ?
Cheers Bucky

when its working its braking
well, what is happening is intermittent.
I have the controller set at about 7 volts max and that works fine when it works as it should and applies braking proportional to the inertia of the vehicle.
every now and then though as soon as you just touch the pedal it is just sending the max voltage bang and locking everything up ( instead of the numbers on the sceen just incrementally increasing proportional to the inertia of the vehicle.. when you brake it just goes bang to the max voltage you have it set to), let me tell you when you are not expecting it, it is quite bloody dangerous.
I guess i will just send it back, just thought somone may have experienced a similar problem

Presumably both are wired up correctly and have no bad joins in the wiring.
Had
mine in a Patrol and it would lock up the
wheels on a 2600kg van no trouble.
Took the signal wire off the cold side of the switch on the brake pedal.
Was awkward to get at but worked Ok Have done the same on the Cruiser.
The angle of installation can make a difference also.
Have never had it go to max ever.

Graham
I wish
mine would lock things up, so I could actually back it off.
Set it up at 6.5 volts, and have nothing. .
Am aware of porportional braking.
Will check where the signal comes off. Like you said, the cold side of the brake pedal.
Instalation angle is 40 degrees plus ( ? )..,, or in the Patrol, along side the strrring column cover panel, at knee cap height

Hey Bucky, Just had a "light bulb moment" whilst reading this.
What about trying this, just to see if the brakes are working okay.......
Temporarily run a wire, via a on/off switch, from the battery (+) to the trailer connection plug on the Patrol; the pin for the trailer brakes.
Now go for a drive and throw the switch to ON....giving you a full 12 or 13 volts to the brakes. If it doesn't lock-up or at least brake hard, then you'll know it's the brakes themselves (magnets etc) and maybe not the Prodigy.
Just a thought.....
Cheers mate
