You said the SD card failed. That implies the GPS wont boot. If that is the case I have a feeling that you should be taking with the GPS manufacturer.

We have the VMS GPS and the SD card can be "rebuilt" with the VMS software in the home computer. Oziexplorer CE is just a program that runs under Windows CE which is the platform on our VMS GPS.

Two questions:
What make is the GPS that the SD card in question came with?
And
Does the origrinal GPS boot up at all?

thanks for the follow up.the gps is working.oziexplorer is working.the trouble i'm having is with the setup for maps.since i posted the first thread i somehow improved my situation(please don't ask me how)the issue now is if i'm on a topo map it won't auto search for a more detailed map (ie hema vic high country).i have to manually select this map.it used to have auto search for the best map.
the two gps were from ebay the 4.3 in came with ozi and all maps working ok.
i brought a 7in one 4 months ago and put my ozi sd card onto it.got it working to my satifaction.went to use the 7in friday for a trip up to bright and the 7in won,t work.put sd card into 4.3 in and had the problems i'm currently having.
should have bit the bullet and brought a hema navigator first up
trying to get 7in fixed under warranty.(only 4 months old)
hope this makes sense. i find the help section for ozi a bit confusing, suppose i'm just after some fine tuning with some help.
thanks again challenger

We have a club meeting tonight. If the Oziexplorer guru is there I will ask him where to look.

If its Windows then that explains it all!! I used to write software and bypassed that heap oj junk that Bill Gates put out. It was and still is full of errors. I wrote my own sans errors. My logging program that I wrote in 1983 to handle ham radio contacts and manage ham radios operation still runs on PCs with Vista and Seven on them. No compatability problems as I bypass his rubbish and therefore all the Windows errors that are still being made.

For the Gates fans my opinion is that all software should be totally devoid of errors. No execptions. Windows breaks down because it is built on faulty foundations such as his bios.

Like I s aid I will ask the guru if he is there. I haven't the time to check now and I only got Ozi yesterday.

Don't think that.

We all have our own particular set of skills and specialities. I hate trying to figure car wiring out.

Any time I can be of help.

I better get going or I will be late.

don't assume the Help file does not help!!!
read the maps tab as you don't have the search for more detailed map option set correctly

I have not checked if this sequence will be the same in OziexplorerCE.

In Oziexplorer:
1. Click on the "File" menu.
2. Select the "Configuration" option.
3. Click on the "Moving Map" option.

There is an option to "Always check for more detailed map". It has an enable box and a time interval for checking for another map.

The box should have a tick init and you can select a time interval yourself. The default appears to be 120 seconds.

I hope this helps.
