Have a dark Green Dom tic Awning, 4 or so years old, sometime ago came across a van with a similar size awning around 5m with sun damage to the top of the awning when in the rolled up position. I suggested to the owner he just cut the last 30cm off the awning etc, but with an annex this was not an option.
We have our van under cover (plastic roof that stops 99% Ha Ha Sun Light etc.) and want to prevent sun damage to the awning . Thinking about a long curtain with a 50cm drop held up by white electrical conduit laying on the van roof.
Then again the awning shows no
sign of damage after 4+ years is it worth the bother.
Comments appreciated.
Peter

Our Van lives outside and has been for five years now, I treat the exposed section of awning with Armour all. It has become a bit discoloured but still seems OK, you can get a new section welded in if need be.

Get a sail track above the awning and get a little cover made for it when its rolled up.
When you pull it out it will just push it up.
Some vans have metal ones .

Hi Peter,
I used to make caravan awnings before I retired.
The first thing to go will be the cotton stitching not the PVC of the awning. Once this happens it's stuffed.
