I have a couple of 'Earth Mat' Gigamats, which have been stored for a couple of years, when unrolled recently, found that the bonding holding the top and bottom covers has let go, does anyone know who can repair these mats for me as they are way too good to throw away. We are in Lismore NSW with the Qld
Gold Coast and
Brisbane not far away.
Cheers
Col

Sorry, can't help with the repairs, I wish you luck. They should always be stored unrolled with the valves open. I'd have thought the salesman would have explained that to you.

Hi Teege. Interesting idea. I am on my second Caribee brand self-inflating mattress (the first one suffered a valve collapse after a year, and was replaced free). No one has suggested anything about storage, so I've been saving space and storing the thing rolled tightly, stoppers in. I'm sure the manufacturer's instructions didn't say anything either.
Thanks for your tip.

Teege is right. The thermarest I bought about 15 years ago said exactly that and is still good today. (same with down sleeping bags too)

Chris
My missus made up a couple of big bags for them and they hang off the wall in the garage.

Hi col,
Are they really a self-inflating materess or are they a double laminated foam? If they are the same ones i am thinking about, they would be "EVA foam" (google this).
A good shoe repairer should have the right glue/cement for the job, or
places like clarke rubber etc.
Hope that helps.

OK you've already had your wrists slapped for storing them incorrectly, but it wouldnt have made a beans worth of difference with the Earth mat.
I had one which did this very thing and it had been stored correctly, it separated around the seam, just like yours. I tried several glues just as you are about too as
well. None of them worked.
In the end I binned it and I bought a Thermarest and 10 yrs later its still going strong.....
