Im thinking about buying this tent but before i do i would like to know how long it takes to set up. Anyone own this tent ? I was going to get the turbo lite plus 300 but have decided i want more room. Are the bedrooms on either side of the Twin 300 optional? Thanks.

Hello BushTackaMane
We've had three of the Black Wolf Turbo Lite tents - two 300 plus and one 300 twin.
AND we took them all back and got our money back - long story. But we had two major issues. The first was that two of the tents leaked, one in only mild rain. The
water was actually coming through the fabirc, not wicking through a seem. And the second issue was quality control. The interior curtain's zip began pulling away from the material in under two weeks of use, and the eyelets on the front awning were pulling out. One of the knuckles broke but that was replaced under warranty.
We loved the tent and it was great to use but... with the above issues we went to another option (
Southern Cross).
Go
here for my more complete review but you've got the guts of the review here. Perhaps it was just a bad batch?
Cheers
Dion

I agree with you . I also have a turbo lite 300 plus, and the quality of the materials, particularly the floor is not as good as I expected for the money. It also doesn't fit back into its bag and is a swine to pack up. I still like the design and the light weight though.

I've heard similar but just bought a turbo 300 plus myself in the canvas....the tent weighs a bit more than the light models but is very strong.
Stronger poles and thicker floor while the canvas is obviously very robust. Haven't had it in the rain yet though.

Bedrooms optional? If you want more room you'll need those. You have a choice of 300, 300 plus, 300 twin - all different sizes. If you mean can you put one bedroom up and leave the other down on a 300 twin ... I doubt it.
Anyway, I have a 300 lite plus and quite happy with it. Not excessively heavy, and quite easy to put up for such a large tent.

If the Lite Twin folds up like the extension room on the Plus models (where the extension clips up to the roof line before you fold it up), I imagine you'd be able to use just one bedroom and not the other, assuming this is what you're trying to do. You might run into problems with the fly etc... it's probably easier just to put in the two extra pegs and run both rooms.
Set up time for the Plus version is about 10-15 minutes I'd say, but I do like to take my time... I use a ground sheet, shade cloth door mat, then peg out the tent, pop it up, poles in the back, fly and done. If you have two people or it's raining I think it'd be quicker :) Pack up is about the same. So I'd add a couple of minutes extra to put out the extra poles for the 2nd bedroom, but I don't imagine it would make much difference at all to the overall setup time- the extensions are the quick bit!
I haven't any experience with the Lite, but I have a canvas 240 Plus and it has been very good in the rain and wind. I gave it a thorough soaking before I used it and I am sure this has helped. I took it out to
Deep Creek conservation park last weekend where it poured rain constantly, had a few dribbles from an inside seam I must have missed on the first night, the second night there were no problems as it had sealed itself up. Combined with the improved floor quality, I'd be tempted to buy a canvas version, though you won't get two bedrooms...

The turbo 300 twin light is easy to put up , taking it down takes a bit longer , the main thing is to leave the doors open so you get all of the air out , the the room dividers inside the tent are hopeless , when you try to do up the zipps they are really stretching zipps and the tent to the max . we also had a few drips of
water but nothing to wory about .
Mine is for sale if anyone is interested , the reason is it's too big and bulky when it's packed up for my 4x4 ,

Just bought a 300 Twin and set it up at home on the weekend. It goes up in a flash but getting it back in the bag was another story. After wrestling with it for 15 mins I sussed it out and got it all back in the bag. Good tip was to leave the doors open to let the air out.
If I had my choice I would have gone with the OZTent RV5 with the side and front panels but the price and lack of head room shifted us towards the BW.
Looking forward to testing it out over new years at Marion Bay, SA.
By the way I'm trying to decide whether to replace out leaky QS Airbed or go for a self inflatable mattress??? Is a 10cm self infator as comfy as an airbed??
Cheers

Have just purchased "dune" self inflating, 10cm, and tried it over 2 nights and found it comfortable, much more than a blow up mattress, and nowhere near as cold. The only thing to bear in mind is the size difference when packing up, but in my case
well worth it

Thanks for the feedback. Just bought a coleman QS inflatable for $69 from BCF with battery pump included. Hopefully it doesn't spring a leak.
