We all know about the 200 landcrusier agreed service cost. $210 I think it is at the moment for the first 60,000 kms.

I recently put mine in for it 20,000 service but this time took my own oil. (Sorry do not trust dealer services after they stuff one new car) When I collected the crusier I descovered that they had reduced the service bill by $61 because I brought my own oil.

A handy thing to think of when getting serviced. By the way the TD version takes 9.7 litres so you will need a 10 litre can.

How much did your oil cost BTW?

Castrol GTX Diesel engine oil 10w-40 / 10L or similiar will cost me $63 or so....not much saving there. :)

Hi Andrew,

I agree the oil cost is the same but at least this way you know what oil is going into your truck. Just leave your truck at the dealer and they could be putting some cheap bleep ty oil in there. You never know.

If I was a large toyota dealer I would be buying oil in bulk and price would be a serious consideration. I do not know a generous toyota dealer. If anyone does please post it and I will take my truck there.

For an excercise try and find the home address of the dealer principal of a toyota dealership, particually in the city.

When you collect your truck just ask for the container back.

And you never know

the good quality oil you gave the dealer might just have gone into your car and not his.

Just kidding.............they wouldn't do something so underhanded

Would they????????

I am paying $180 per service for my TD. About $63 10 litres retail for BP's Magnatec - made in Malaysia.

Remember the dealer will be paying less than half that amount given the eagerness of major oil companies to get into this sector as they believe a significant number of users will stay with the brand used by the service center. Volumes are significant as well.

I recall many years ago a Range Rover owner was convinced his oill wasn't being changed. He painted the sump plug with yellow paint. Before paying, he asked that the vehicle be put back on the hoist - a few red faces after the sump plug had no spanner marks on it! The plug hadn't been touched and the oil was black.
