G'day All
I couldnt believe my ears when i heard this the other day
An uncle of
mine has a 2004 hilux SR5 which he took to a Toyota dealership to get new CV's done. While he was there he asked them to price him a new CD/tape deck for the car and a new aerial
$1800 for the deck and $400 for new aerial!!! . Pretty sure i only paid $150 for a decent kenwood one.
Makes you wonder why they think they can charge so much i tell ya.
This is criminal if you ask me
Cheers

The real reason Toyota charge so much for parts is beacuse the buggers never break down so they have to charge like a wounded bull to make money when they get the chance.
Thats my theory anyway and im sticking to it.

Naah,
You guys got it wrong.
The ONLY reason they are so dear is that, like all Toyota products, they are grossly overpriced for what you get and definitely not value for money.
LOL
Disco..

How come nobody thinks Toyota parts are cheap? HaHa
My local wreckers can get me brand new genuine Toyota parts from the exact same toyota dealer in
Perth for nearly 20% less. Explain that.

Toyota radio/cd players are only medium quality Fujitsu u units worth about 1/10th of their retail price.
Any Japnese made stereo would last as long as one of them

I guess at the end of the day either buy the genuine and pay the asking price or vote with your feet and walk into the Kenwood
shop and buy theirs. The choice is yours in this case. If it was a spare part that you couldn't buy aftermarket and the price was a bit over the top .......
well thats another story

Kenwood can be a fairly cheap brand.

Japanese manufactured Toyota Prius mag wheel $650.
Japenese manufactured rear hatch rubber over $500
Japenese manufactured front bumper cover over $600
Japenese manufactured front brake calliper rebuild kit $240 per side.
All this for an Australian manufactured Camry would be under $600.
I thought it was expensive to manufacture things in Australia with our high labour costs.

Why do you think the Japanese economy is just as big a basket case as the US. Virtually no natural resources, an economy rebuilt after total destruction after WW2 by US money and an almost total reliance on manufactured and exported goods. All very
well and good when their standard of living was relatively low and their labour costs also low. Now the standard of their manufactured goods is world class but their standard of living is high and so are their labour costs. As a result anything manufactured in Japan is priced accordingly. A lot of the electronic goods like Toshiba (like i'm using at the moment) Sony and others are no longer made in Japan. Too expensive.

needed a new diesel cylinder head 1KHZ and $2.2k from Toyota. Imported from NZ landed freight paid etc. Aus for $1.3k Toyota Aus are serious ripoff compared to importing your own parts.
