possible itinerary for bribie island?

Will have a spare day with the kids over Xmas/New year thinking about a trip to Bribie.

Any tips of places to see things to bring etc for a newbie?

Hi Cane Toad,

We lived just sth of Bribie for years, I used to take the kids to the beach to the left as you come over the bridge (can't remember the name of it) its really calm water and it also has a great playground. We also liked to get hot chips at the cafe on the surf side then walk over the dunes to the beach. There are lots of nice spots to have a picnic and a swim at Bribie

Cheers

Couple of nice golf courses on Bribie.
The Pacific Harbour course was a very nice a few weeks ago.

Whilst I didn't see much of the beaches it looked like a great place and goes on my list to return to in the future.

HI CT,

We always enjoyed going to the Ocean side when our kids were young as the surf there is protected by Moreton Is so its quite safe - not real large waves unless there is a cyclone offshore -there is a patrolled area anyway. This area is called Woorim
To get there follow Goodwin Dr into First Aveue right through to other side of Island. AS First avenue turns left into Noth Street there is a parking area with access to beach and public showers and toilets. there is also a park with kids playground equipment on the Corner of Boyd stree.
You can also drive on the beach (with a permit) if you follow North st to its end - there is access to the beach at low tide. You can drive for some Km with some creek crossings and see Worth War 2 relics (bunkers etc). I think you can get a beach permit from the Council caravan park on the corner of Welbsey Prd and Fith Avenue Bongaree. (bridge side of Bribie).
There is also a nict little jetty at Bongaree (cnr Welsby Prd and Firth Av) where kids can fish off. with adjacent Brennan Park.
There is a museum under construction but I'm not sure if its open yet.
Plenty of shops and cafes as well. (and bait shops).
We always found Bribie a great place to take kids with a quieter atmosphere than some of the places further developed on the Sunshine coast.

Have a great holiday.

Cheers

Trouble with driving on the beach at Bribie is that there is NO day permit available to purchase for day trippers , last time we looked only monthly and yearly permits , makes for an expensive day trip.

We live on Bribie and you can only get Weekly or yearly permits for the beach and inland track.

Right now the on/off to the beach is deeply rutted with soft was sand for approx 100m. We got stuck today in the Rangie passing a Prado that was also stuck - but we got out in 5 mins digging with the shovel. Unfortunately we had to leave the Prado as we had an Autistic grandchild going off her tree in the vehicle because we were stuck and wanted to be moving. Austic children really give you patience and they are very trying at times.

There were also several other 4wd's around to help so we did not feel too bad.

Bribie is a great low key place for a break with surf and calm water beaches, plenty of clubs, some great restaurants if you know where, a couple of good camp grounds, etc

Hope you enjoy our special piece of paradise.
