I am looking for a
camping sight in the
Nelson Bay area for a couple of weeks in Feb. All I need is
water and able to use a generator. needs to be free or very reasonable cost. Would welcome some ideas. Thanks Len

Geez Len, not asking for much.
Nelson bay is bloody exspensive for accomodation in the peak season, if it was available for free think it would be full all the time.
Good luck!
Mind you there is Stocktons Beach but I dought you would get any
water there to drink.

I note you say free OR reasonable cost. Unfortunately those conditions do not apply to anywhere on the southern shore of Port Stephens. You might like to make enquiries of the caravan
park at Jimmy's Beach (Hawks Nest) on the Northern side of the Port. A lovely spot, prices off-peak are considerably less than anywhere in
Nelson Bay and you can sit on
the beach and look at
Nelson Bay anyway. There is a ferry service from neighbouring Tea Gardens to
Nelson Bay.

If your thinking of North around hawks nest, then theres also the
camping sites along the Myall lakes.
Don't think there free! National parks will have the details, but theres a few nice spots along there.

Thanks for your advice . I thought I may have been asking a bit much for that area. A
parking bay on the side of the road sounds about the only cheap spot going!!!!! Thanks again

Unfortunately, most of the caravan parks at
Nelson Bay are owned and operated by the council. Consequently the council rangers are red hot on people
camping in car parks etc.
