Hi all ,
Has anyone had a fuel leak in their D4D hilux or playdoe?

We have been chasing a leak for about 2 mths now and we can't seem to find where it is comming from. We thought it was the return line as it hasn't affected starting or running.
Now it is getting worse ie saturated passenger side of the block and all the underside of the car and lots of spots on the tailgate 3 hours after a full hot steam clean of the entire engine and underside.

We are leaning to a crack in the common rail itself between it and the block.

It has had 2 faulty injectors replaced in the past if that means anything to anyone.

Cheers Dave

Wash it and Trade it for a new one. It should be close enough for them to consider trading it now ;)

I doubt it it only has 111,000km on it, they might be keeping them for over 200,000km (3 yrs for me)

i bet that a injector line nut on the fuel rail is leaking, the engine has foam packed in around the lines / rail and this soaks up the fuel making it look like it is leaking else where . remove the foam and bin it , re wash and check again.
cheers

Don't know about the Toyotas, but in other makes, if the fuel pipe has been undone/taken off, then it has to be replaced.......the fittings are a once only use !! Possible cause for a leak ??

Yeah they should be replaced, but there is no foam (toyota must have removed when they did the injectors) and no leaks from any of the pipes (they are probably the only dry spot).

Going to put a dye in the fuel next week to try to find it.

They are supposed to replace the rails when replacing the injectors according to Rankin Diesel who did mine however they managed to re-use my rails and get them sealed, took a little manipulation here and there. The cost of replacing the rails after replacing the million dollar injectors certainly adds up.
