Hi all,
I have just been given a Uniden bearcat hand held scanner ,model: UBC60XLT I have been told that I need to get a list of the channel frequencies so I can program them in ,I have no real idea about how to use these or what to do but I thought it would be good for a big trip we are about to undertake so if anyone can offer any advice /info that would be great.
Regards John.

John, UHF frequencies begin at 476.425 for channel 1 & go up by .025 all the way to channel 40...eg..Ch 2 is 476.450.
To enter...press "man"...select ch no...eg..key 1..press man again...then enter frequency using number key pad...then press E.
I'm not sure how much use it would be on a trip...perhaps a 2way would be more
useful.
You can find out more if you google "UHF Frequencies", & can download a manual
for your model if you google Uniden Scanner Manual & hunt around.
Let me know ifyou have any more queries....cheers....oldbaz.
PS...there are many other frequencies apart from uhf cb...google is your friend.

John, if you have any interest or need for Bushfire info, google RFS Radio
Frequencies & select the town/area closest to you from the statewide list &
add that Freq to your scanner.....oldbaz.

Hi John - Go here;
http://www.scanaustralia.bigpondhosting.com/
This will give you an idea of what is available. I think that you can get an operators manual from the Uniden website. Scanning can be a fascinating pastime - airports, hospitals, police (some, they've now gone digital), all sorts of things.

You might be a little disappointed. Most Govt agencies, Police, Fire,
AMbulance etc have gone to digital. Most Police transmissions are now encrypted and cannot be intercepted. To listen to digital broadcasts you will need a digital scanner. Check this
LINK will provide some peripheral information such as who, what, where, when, why etc relating to 'the world of scanning'.
