I have had enough of the "Over the top High service charges" from Toyota dealers. Can anyone recommend a good and reliable mechanic that can carry out services as per the service book. Needs to be located N of the river in Perth
Cheers

G'day George. I wonder if you are to late to take up the Toyota fixed price service plan. My brother has the same vehicle on their plan. Had the 40000k service done in Alice Springs a few months ago. When he went to pick it up the account was near $900. (You are so correct about being over the top) He said sorry, I am on the fixed price plan which brought it back to $240. They do take around $100 worth of oil plus the filter so if you are too late for the Toyota plan then someone should point you to an independent guy near to you. I'm in NSW so good luck, hope someone local can recommend for you. Bob.

I thought the fixed price servicing was only on 200 series.

Was never mentioned to me and I have had services all around the country this year.

Sorry I got in trouble for my last post, but it's crazy what they charge.

My 40K service was about $1250. INSANE!!!! So a $900 service didnt seem to me. Although its outrageous.

But I keep going back.. work that out

The most I have paid for a 2005 GXL TD 40,or 60 or 80k service is $912 including new rear pads.

My 120k cost me $600+ at the ARB dealer in Busselton but I supplied my own oils and filters.

Included checking the tappets.

1200 is outrageous. Just cos its a Sahara. LOL

OK George
You have no answers to your question and you did say North of the river - but to save $$$$$$$$$$$ and get a good service these people are REALLY good - I have been going there since I was out of warranty (not that warranty was ever needed for a Toyota !!!!)

George
I agree, the Dealer service seems to be over the top.
When I purchased my TD200 series I signed up a deal for $180 per service.
I just had a 60k service and this was the last of the deal.My dealer informs me that the 70k service will cost about $350 and the 80k will be about $850.
I will be using a local non Toyota bloke for all future services.
regards

Hi Trekkie, It seems that most people agree that Toyota dealers service charges are over the top. Also the dealer is not interested in fixed services charges. Thank you for your suggestion for servicing at TLC O.Connor, Unfortunately that is too far to go
Cheers

Hi George,

I know a lot of blokes are over the 'do it yourself' servicing, but oil and filter, fuel filter, diff and gearbox/transfer oils and air filter are easily done by yourself (and you know that it is done). For bigger jobs you can get someone like TLC or Robsin Bros on the case. I do my own swivel hubs and bearing/axle seal serviceing as well these days, but have used Robsin Bros for things like this, as well as valve clearance checks, and Freo Fuel injection for pump mods. If you book the job in advance, Robson Bros were helpful with travel arrangements, may be different now they have moved. I'm willing to travel (take the bike and ride to work/pick up vehicle next day) if a good job is done (and I live 30km north of the city).

Sorry I can't suggest a 4WD mechanic, as such, north of the river.

Cheers,

Ross.

Hi there. We have a great mechanic in Muchea, W.A. - don't know if thats too far away for you. He has been servicing our cars (Mazda bravo and T/D 100 series) for over 5 years now and is very reasonable.
If your interested I can email his details to you.

Hi Lynz, Thanks for your suggestion but Muchea is a bit too far from Marmion. I would have to bring a lunch bag
