For sand and light mud, they dont come much better than the BFG A/T.
I had them for afew years and I now have Bridgstone LT D694 235/85/16 and while they are very good, they are not a quantam leap from the BFG A/T in terms of performance

Hello m8 , thanks for the reply , my rims are 15" and I want to go for 16" and bigger tyre to get some better control and get some extra clearance ...
SST are very overrated from what I read .. might just settle for BFG A/T KM

The 33x10.5X15 in the BFG A/T is a very tall tyre and you wouldnt have change your rims.
I think they are about $330 each these days.
If you went much taller overall ,the front ones my rub as you turn
The only benefit of going to a 16 in tyre would be theoretically some better road handling ,but I didnt notice any difference

For sand it doesnt matter what tyre you go really. H/T is the best tyre for sand, followed by A/T. Now as for asking people which tyre is the best option, its very much a personal opinion really. Any tyre will do for sand, as long as you drop the pressures and have enough contact area. Mud, where im from ive seen A/T skinny tyres get further then 33'' mud tyres, along the same line, same speed and same type of vehicle so i dont really think there that much help. Until you get to the serious mud tyres like Mickey thompson Baja Claws etc, i believe they aint worth the noise and quicker wear.
Myself im a Bridgestone man, but only the Aussie made ones. Only some sizes available in 694LT and 693LT made in Oz, and none in there M/T. Buy Aussie made and buy the best, cheaper then the American tyres too. Just make sure you get L/T, and buy a good brand tyre thats the price you wont to spend and i think thats all that matters. Pressures matter more then tyre choice i reckon.

Hi Lapua,
I'm running BFG at's on the Ute and 694's on the Pajero. They both go ok on sand.
IMHO though, The BFG's have better performance when they get worn down to around 30% life left.
You are going to have to make a compramise if you want a tyre that can do the job on sand and Mud
Cheers Wilko
p.s. you certaintly caused a stir calling your rig a truck lol
