Hi to All. I have a Nuvi 660 and have receved a message that my maps need updating. I have all of Australia programed into it. Can anyone help, as all I can find out is, that the nuvi 660 is no longer in production. Do I stick with this one or update to another model.

Hi Steve
You will find that it is a courtesy email from Garmin. As new maps are release every 12 months, they are letting you know that your maps have been updated. Having said that, there are very good chances that if you purchased new maps, you may notice any difference where you drive. The usual upgrade from most companies is in the $150 range. If you are concerned about the latest maps, you can purchase lifetime maps from Garmin for around the $190 mark. In that way, you will never have to purchase any more maps for the life of your Nuvi. It is up to each individual. I am happy with my maps and have not upgraded.

The choice is yours.

Seasons Greetings

Stephen

Hi Bonz
Seasons Greetings to you and your family.

Any shop that sells Garmin products can order the lifetime maps for you. I personally have not seen them, but our Garmin Rep was telling me about it. I believe that once you register the lifetime maps, when you connect your Garmin Nuvi to the internet, that product is then matched with your Nuvi. Every time Garmin release new maps and you connect you Nuvi to the internet, you are able to download them for free, for the lifetime of the Nuvi that you own.

Cheers

Stephen
