I just bought the weber baby q,and as i have a multitude of gas bottles and hoses,I was hoping I would not have to buy the Weber gas bottle.
Sadly none of my fittings will fit the weber.
Is the Weber thread a one off,or should I be able to find an adapter thread so I can use my Coleman or Primus bottles.
I havent been to anyone yet. Anyone got any tips on who to see in
Perth for gas bottle fittings?

I have just been looking on ebay at the weber Q baby there is one for sale and it shows it with a exchange gas bottle,so I guess you can buy an adaptor.

Gidday
last time I was in the
Ranger Camping store in
Albany Highway Bentley they seemed to have quite a range of gas fittings and adapters and I remember thinking that i didn't know gas was that complicated. Might be worth giving them a call.
Cheers
Rocco

Thanks Rocco and Carl. You both jogged my memory. I have seen rangers gas fittings and I think my mate uses a standard refill bottle.

Gday,
You could always make an adapter if you get stuck.
Just don't tell the do-gooders or you will get a massive legal/safety lecture.
Can you post a photo of the thread?
Cheers

Hi
Ross,
Are you talking the thread on the body or on the end of the lead.?
My Baby Q flexible lead screws straight onto a standard left handed 9kg bottle.
The are the most wonderful BBQ ever for travelling. Damper, bread, roasts etc are wonderful.
Cheers
Guy

Gidday
Ross,
I purchased the same last year. I didn't buy the Weber bottle or any adaptor, the lead screwed into one of the stock standard 9kg gas bottles you can buy or get refilled anywhere.
Gave one to the Father in Law in October, same deal. I believe a normal 9kg bottle will suffice, however if you use a smaller one you just may need an adaptor.
Good choice in bbq anyway.
Enjoy!
Mick

As both before stated, a 9kg ins on the end og my weber hose ( the medium size unit). O think this 9kg gas fitting is called a POL fitting.
BCF sell POL-to-3/8 and 3/8-to-POL fittings.
This means I can run it off my BBQ bottle or smaller caming bottles.
Paul.

Hi
Ross, also recently brought a Webber Q,and the fitting screws onto the 9kg bottle without any special fittings,a great unit, roasts and BBQ's are perfect.

Only problem is that the weber hose does not come with a valve.
But I got an adapter at Rangers and all is fine, even cooked lunch on it.: )

I've had Weber BabyQ 100 for three years now and can answer your question. The adaptor you need will all depend on what you intend to connect it to. The Weber gas hose has a regulator ending in the standard POL connector. This is designed to fit into gas bottles that have a fitting requiring a gas regulator. When I bought my Baby Q I only had a gas bottle that had a standard 3/8 fitting and the Weber wouldn't fit this. My local
camping store had a connector that would make it work with my small 4L gas bottle that has the connection on the top. (I also bought a gas bottle that would take the fitting without needing a connector).
Go to your local
camping store and get a connector. It will cost you very little money. Also, don't expect your Weber to work with any gas bottle less than 4kgs. The BabyQ is the best BBQ/Cooker I've ever bought.

Hmm I just got a weber Q200 and the thread fits my old standard fitting. without seeing yours, I would check that you are reverse turning (anti=clockwise to tighten, and also holding tube back to allow the thread to engage (if that makes any sense). I assume you got a LP weber and not the NG fitting on purchase. any
camping store who stocks Weber (eg
Ranger Outdoors) could advise otherwise.

I have just fitted a Bayonet type fas fitting to my caravan and had it plumbed to the on-board gas.
Bought a ready made hose from Kleenheat Bunbury for $25 which has a bayonet one end and screws straight onto the Baby the other end.
Now I don;t need to carry an extra bottle for the bbq,.
Works for me.
