On Patrol & TONI
My Question is has anyone got one of these carriers and what's it like????
This mob are doing xmas specials on many items inc. wheel carriers for various makes & models. DUAL wheel carriers with LED lights, Australian made, Slimline brgs in swivels & heavy duty locks, all for just $1690 (normally $2300). they claim it,s to increase awareness of their company and is limited to just the next week.
Cheers Colin.

I think he means "bearings" not sure why he just can't spell the word in full. I think too much of this text/SMS writing has infected our english grammar

A load of people on LCOOL have been talking about them and a few have brought them.
Some talk of a bit of a fiddle getting them to fit, but the later ones are better. The locks were a subject of concern.
Not sure where they are made.
They were $1590 if purchased before October but $1690 seem to be the normal price.
At the end of the day most said good value for money...
Hows the Tojo engined Patrol going?
You going to Queenbean for the Association meeting in February?

Hi Tony
yes I will be at Quenbeyan with Total Care 4wd (Jason Dymock) displaying TONI on his stand, he is the creator of the beast.
TONI is doing fine Tony, I went out to
Birdsville & down through
the Painted Desert etc following the StGeorge gathering and TONI performed faultlessly all the way, which is more than can be said about my bl@@dy Engle fridge, LOL
See you there maybe?????
Cheers Colin.

That link was a good read, thanks.

Colin.
The led lights are only led globes, last month for that price you got an awning thrown in.

I have one from the first batch they sold and other than a couple of issues like non led globes that they replaced and I broke a locking pin and they replaced that too it has been great no major issues.

I have now moved the number plate down between the locking latches and got rid of the cockroach plates for some pretty Qld ones.
Also I have ditched the std yota flaps for some big home made rubber ones.
Cheers

I looked at buying one of their single wheel carriers.
They state in the fitting instructions that 100ser have bracing panels in the rear quarters to take these.
THEY DONT
Only IMPORT models do
So I didnt buy one
Also read on LCool a while ago some had trouble with fitting the roof racks as things didnt seem to line up..
Not to say the stuff hasnt improved, however Caveat Emptor

Graham
I have one of their single wheel carriers on the 80 and I don't know
what you mean with the rear quarter panels, as they don't bolt onto
them only the rear bumper and chassis.
You may be refering to those cheap wheel carriers that bolt to the side
of the rear guards?
Chris

They were selling wheel carriers that bolted thru the rear guard above and below the tail lights and had a clip on the tailgate on a 100ser.
They were like the ones on import Nissan Terranno's
The Jap cruisers we got in NZ had additional panels inside the guard which they hung them on. However Aussie and NZ built ones dont have that reinforcing.
I gave up on them as I wanted a metal wheel cover but was just too much of a hassle dealing with what seemed to be Middle eastern names..
Cheers I got a Kaymar for $500 so Im happy

I have one for my Patrol. not bad. Not too hard to fit. The lights
mine came with were crap so I put LED's on. The patrol one does not incorporate the towbar, it replaces the rear bumper. Solidly made. The pins that hold the arms out on
mine were crap. The latches are Ok. Based on the fact that a Kaymar or ARB is $3500 and I paid $1495 for
mine it was worth a little bit of messing about.
I only wanted one to get the spare wheel off the door and hang a
water jerry on it so I am happy.
The only thing that I don't like is the same on all of them, having to open the wheel carrier before you can open the door!!!! I take the arms off and only put them on when I am going travelling.
Hope this helps.
