Car fridges

I have had a Quirks Eutectic fridge for fourteen years. It has never let me down even in extreme heat.
My problem is almost daily, manually changing the power supply plugs from 12 to 240 volt.
Does anyone know of a system that will auto detect 12 or 240 volt supply to save pulling and connecting plugs all the time.
thanks in advance. Bruce.

Fence,

If you have electrical capability you could patch one of these in.....
AC Relay
The coil is in parallel to the mains socket;contacts switch between the battery supply & the DC[from mains] power supply. When the mains is "ON" the relay switches to that supply....switch "OFF" the mains & it drops back to battery source.Make sure the contact rating is sufficient for your fridge & please fuse the relay coil.

Its a sneaky idea I gleaned from this website :)

Bruce, have you contacted the supplier to see if they have something that will work. You could also look at a charge system for the battery, that way the fridge could stay on 12 volt.

Cheers

Mark

PS I have the 73 litre Autofridge and they are a top unit.

Contacted the supplier a couple of years ago. They were no help.I currently have a duel battery management system however when towing the van i like to connect to 240 at van parks and often its only a one night stand. Its prob no big deal but often have to rewire plugs as a wire will disconnect with lots of use,.
I like ENG HO,s suggestion but not being electricaly minded am warey putting in something that may stuff up the fridge.Particularly as the original instructs specifically said DEfinately do not install an inline On/Off switch.??
thanks for the help. Maybe somewhere someday a solution will be found.
