Strzelecki Track - accommodation

Hi all

I am contemplating a trip in the Strzelecki Desert area next winter (specifically the Strzelecki Track and the Birdsville Track). While my vehicle is well-equipped, I do not camp, and therefore I look for on-site accommodation en route. I would greatly appreciate advice on whether there is any accommodation for travellers along the Strzelecki Track, eg Merty Merty, Bollards Lagoon, Mount Hopeless, Murnpeowie or somewhere else. If so, contact details would be very helpful.

If the answer is negative, is it feasible (and sensible, for that matter) to contemplate travelling from Innamincka to Lyndhurst on one day?

There is accommodation at Bollards Lagoon http://www.outbacknsw.com.au/bollard's_lagoon.htm

Other than that, no accommodation that I know of.

Innamincka to Lyndhurst is an easy day's run. Strzelecki Track is more of a name and less of a track with some new sections of bitumen passing lanes. Its a great big wide road.

You can also do Innamincka to Birdsville in one day and then Birdsville to Maree in one day.

Mungarannie is a great place to stop but you need to book well ahead as the basic accomodation is always in demand. Great feed, cold drinks and sunrise or sunset over the billabong offers some great photography.

Cabins at the Birdsville Caravan park and of course rooms at the pub but as per above book well ahead
