Howdy folks, i am thinking of soaking the underneath of my car with Ct 18 overnight to try and remove some of the red dirt and other crap from underneath. As it has been sold i want it to look half decent.
Googled it a bit and got mixed results from other forums. Some say its harmless now cause it been reformulated, others say its bad stuff and will eat rubber and all sorts. In two minds here, surely it cant be that bad. Will be spraying it on with a 5L garden sprayer and hope to leave overnight. Or should i just leave for an hour or so?
Will also be doing engine bay too.
Should I or Shouldnt I ?
Cheers
Kroozer

I use it underneath the Patrol when it's really bad. Only leave it on for half an hour or so, but never use it on paint work, it must have some sort of caustic in it and has marked paint on my other vehicles in the past.
cheers unc

Used it for years with no bad results. If on paintwork don't leave for more than an hour or it will leave streaks (these will wash off) but underneath can leave all night. Hose off with high pressure for best results.

Don't use it straight. Undiluted it lifts the paint on concrete.

Have used it on both our vehicles plus the van. Premixed according to instructions, leave it on overnight and let dry then simply hose off.
I have been using it this way for 10 years without problems.
Just don't use it undiluted. IE. follow instructions.

I use it diluted with good results, but never use high pressure under the vehicle, it pushes
water and grit into the seams of the vehicle causing rust.
You only need a garden hose to clean the gunk off after a good soaking.
Regards
Geoff

Dont use it on your paint work at all it eats the wax out of the paint car wash that you use and will stuff your paint job up. Thats if you are worried about your paint job . Under the vehicle its great stuff.

Yeah i tried that approach Willem. It did get most off, but still a bit that needs a good scrub or something, but i aint scrubbing. Already got the gear to do it so might give it a go tonight. Hopefully i wake up to a body but no chassis. That would be funny.
