Hi guys and gals, hoping for some tips. I've got a 78 FJ40 I am doing up for the handbrake. Have found a disc brake front end for it but I want to put power steering on. It looks like the steering box is riveted to the chassis?? How would you change it if it was cactus?? Does anyone know how to change to power steering? Already have the powers steering pump and lines. Cheers

Thia has been covered before ;-)) I know I've answered probably twice on the same query.
The steering box is bolted to the mount which is rivetted to the chassis. The drag link and steering rods are also different between power and non power setups, thicker/sometimes solid on power steering to handle the increased forces the power assist generates.
Changing the brakes to disc will require a new master cylinder and possibly a new proportioning valve.
You may also have probs with the rear brakes as they usuallly have different size wheel cylinders on the brakes when fitted with disc brakes on the front. This is basically because the pressures in the system are different with drums all round to disc/drum setup.
Best to get a friendly tojo parts place to peruse the parts book to see what is different between the two.
You may also find that it might work with your existing master cylinder and rear drums but possibly not very well especially in an emergency situation.
