G'day Guys
Have my flares on and thought I'd mention some tips and tricks for those seeking less adventure in a similar project.

Got the TJM flares for $500. It took 4 calls before I found a store with them in stock and after I drove there it turned they didn't have the right ones afterall. Duh. Cough. Lucked out at a nearby trailer parts joint that has some TJM stuff.

* If you've got one (70/73/75/78) with the OE sub tank the correct part no. for the rear is: 261DEXRF68M. That's the RHS one with the scallop to allow the fuel door to open.

* The fitting instructions are there, but not in the plastic bag with the flares and parts. It's stuffed down the bottom of the carton somewhere. Dig it out because there's a right and wrong way to fit the rubber strip - don't ask how I know this.

* Locktite gel super glue intermittently beaded will hold the strip on. A little extra at the ends and curves and a judicious nick will help the strip follow the tighter bends.

* Practice fitting the strip before applying glue. There's a knack and you'll know how much to glue up at a time. (Let us know if you find out what solvent gets the glue off your fingers easily)

* Some small quick-grip wood clamps are handy to hold the flare in place while fitting.

* I used small tek screws with a wide flat head instead of the pop rivets. Better choice for the front flares which don't have much overlap beyond the lip of the guard. ie small distance between each hole and edge of flare.

YMMV

Cheers
