I have just fitted a low km engine to my Troopy when we started it we could not get oil pressure. The motor had been sitting in the shed for about 12 months.Have been told that the oil pressure switch could be sticking has anyone had that prob? Also could you please tell how to get to the switch?

Cheers

On most engines, it's a screw-in fitting mounted somewhere near the oil filter, it should have a wire attached to it (to control the warning light).

Most "oil pressure problems" are actually a faulty switch, and you should be able to pick one up (aftermarket) for less than $20. The first thing to check would be that you actually remembered to attach the wire to it - there are a lot of wires and other things to reconnect when changing an engine and it's so easy to miss one or more.

Just to clarify "most oil pressure problems are actually a faulty switch", this doesn't mean keep driving and assume that it's just the switch, it still means stop immediately and investigate, but often it turns out to be a faulty switch

The oil pressure switch actually on the oppisite side of the motor to the oil filter, about half way along and half way up the motor. Its a coot to get at and see.

I would loosen the oil filter then turn the engine over a few times and see if any oil actually pumps out.
After 12 months the pump is probably dry and air locked.

loosening the filter will allow the air to escape & the pump to prime.
Worth a try.

Howdy

My 75 series has done the same thing but it ended up being the gauge in the dash

Toyota quoted me 290 bucks for a new one!! Still looking for a wreck
