I had similar tyres on the same vehicle and they are OK circumference wise I only moved away from them because I felt that 12.5 inches wide was a little too much strain on the steering. I ended up selling them on sleezbay after buying 16's and putting slightly less wide (11.5) ones one those rims but around same height.
Its all about personal preference in the end 33's on 15 inch rims is an economical way to go.

I had the 10.5 in the 33 and they were fine. The extra width is just going to chew the fuel.
I really dont know where you would need 12.5,deep mud maybe?

hi , 12.5 is to cover me for mud without applying mud profile mud tyres because of 80% road use.

My 75 series came with 31x10.5x15. I noticed that the engine seemed to be screaming a bit loud with these tryes. I changed them with 33x12.5x15 and haven't looked back.
Do this (which is what I did), before your change the tyres over go for a drive in your vehicle with your GPS (if you have one) and note the speed readings of both the GPS and the vehicle at various increments (don't get done for speeding). Then when you change for the new tyres, 33X12.5x15, repeat the above. I found with the 33's on the GPS and the vehicle speedo at 60k's it matched. At 100k's vehicle speed the GPS is reading 98k's to which I can live with and less likely to get booked.

great info mate .. I guess your HZJ 75 is not lifted at all ? I was told by others on the tyre industry that BFG 33 x 12.5 x 15 are not a common tyre people stock where as the 31 x 10.5 x 15 are ... but I always carry two spares.

Mine's an FZJ Troopy 4.5lt petrol. No its not lifted. Here in
Perth I've never had a problem with getting the BFG's 33x12.5x15.
My current BFG's still have a bit of meat on em and still running on them, but a couple of months ago I brought my replacement tyres which were Dick Cepek's 33x12.5x15, cause there were a fair bit cheaper than BFG's, the dealer had the Cepek's on the shelf.
