Hi Everyone,

Well in the closing minutes of business today we signed on the dotted line for a new LC200 GXL Turbo Diesel. We have heeded the advice of Boobook2, Captain (WA), Alan H, Gone Bush (WA) and Roback (refer to Thread 73073) and are getting KDSS.
This is a quantum leap for us to go from a 60series to a 200series (I wonder how many have done that …lol). But I have justified it this way: For a long time I have been looking to upgrade to a Multivalve Turbo diesel 80 series (1995-1997 model only) but they are extremely rare and are still pulling over $30,000 for a good one (for a vehicle that’s 12 to 14 years old). Next I started looking at late model turbo diesel 100 series (2005 to 2006) but these are bringing anywhere from $55K to $70K. Because we have a small part-time business with an ABN and can claim the 50% investment allowance and GST refund the nett cost of a new LC200 was not much different to a late model 100 series. Perhaps I just got the result my heart wanted but anyway that’s how I justified it. We look forward to delivery in March 2010. Prices go up $1000 on January 1 but at least we will have a plated 2010 build and compliance.

Cheers and Merry Christmas to All.

Well done, you won't regret it for a minute. Just the long wait to March now. To get a head start on all things 200, you may want to log onto LCOOL - Land Cruiser Owners On-Line and keep up with all things technical about your cruiser.

Cheers

Wow! 60 Series to 200 Series, that is a change you will notice.

Congratulations. I'm sure you will be very happy.

The only justification you need is ' I just wanted one'.

Hope it stays in service as long as the 60 Series.

Everything you say makes sense, good luck with the new rig, the updated model has some nice extra features. We took delivery of ours couple of months ago, they are bloody huge things.

Nice Christmas prezzy.
The 200 series are starting to grow on me.
The old 6 wheel 60 series looks like a good wagon and still bring a good price.
Did you trade it or selling private?

HI Rob,

I've still got the 6 wheeler - will sell it privately closer to the arrival of the new one. I don't think a dealer would be interested in trading that type of vehicle. Its got the highly regarded 12HT turbo diesel (HJ61 series) so I'm hoping it will sell reasonably easy. I've got a couple of "let me know if you ever want to sell" to follow up in due course as well.

Cheers

Well Mark I'm gonna miss the extra carrying capacity in the 6 wheeler - 1200kg (GVM 4500kg) compared with I think 580 kg in 200series. But I don't think so some how ...lol.

Congratulations Wamuranman, you won't regret it for a second.

The only real problem with that twin turbo is how to keep your right foot off the floor at lights as you feel that V8 diesel pull you into the seat.

Congatulations on your new vehicle. Good to get the investment allowance.

Going up $1000 in January. I understand import duty is to be reduced by 5% 2010. On a $86,000 vehicle that should be a reduction around $4,300

Yes the dealer did mention some taxes were going down - but I think the net increase is still $1000.

I suppose Toyota will still pocket the savings and the buyer pays $1000 more.!

Yes, good decision.

You will not know yourself, it's such a good vehicle.

We just towed our Bushtracker caravan (behind our LC200) back to Perth from QLD and we dragged it up Madura Pass (3500kg of van) at 100kph, didn't slow down at all and we could have passed a sedan on the way up if we wanted to.

POWER and COMFORT.

By the way, waiting 3 months for your Cruiser? That's a doddle. Try waiting 12 months from date of order for a new van.

cheers

I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

I hope you don't put a six pack of 'Export' in the van or you will be overweight for the car lol.

Merry Christmas
