I have been having problems with the dash gauges going out Speedo, Temp, Fuel & Rev counter, this happens any time and they usually come back on, but some times they won't come on until after the ignition has been off for a while. All lights keep working

Have a look over here if not already a member;

There's quite a few threads on it, from a quick glance most seem to lean towards an earthing problem. This is just one that I picked out, there's a heap more.

Great call mate ...

That's the one, for sure.
Had a VF Valiant, in the late '70's, and it did really wierd things for 1 month, and she needed 2 earth straps, then all was OK.

Nissans, and for that, most modern vahicles, paint first and the earth wires/straps are just screwed into place afterwards, and this already is a potential problem of NOT ENUF EARTH, from the battery, and for that anything else that relies on a good eatrh.

Trace the main earth to the body/chasis, take the thing off, and scratch the bejesus, out of the area the bolt attaches to.
There may be more earths on the vehicle that you have to do ,, but it will work

Cheers
Bucky

Had the same issue on a GUIII this year and it was the fuse. Dust in particular. Check your wiring diagram and then the fuse box. Can be very susceptible to dust if travelling outback roads and tracks.

Cheers Mick.
