Thanks, Tony

I don't think there is one. It's a sealed system. Consult your "Owner's" manual or ask a Tojo dealer. The new Pajero is the same I cannot think of the name of the auto system but there is no more checking auto fluid in modern day cars however the Patrol still has that system.

not so sure its that simple. The procedure for refilling/topping up after a change is quite complex due to tranny temp and where the fluid is, as the torque converter holds quite a bit.
Basically if there is no leaks obvious, it will be fine-it cant go anywhere else. Toyota specifies that the fluid not be changed unless it has over heated.

Check LCOOL website for details on the fluid replacement procedure.

Yes there is a correct procedure.
Something like getting it hot running it thru all the gears and turn it off and check the level.
There are fluid capacities listed in the Handbook.

the fluid capacities are only a guideline, not the exact amount to ad and leave it at that.
Mainly cos when its drained it varies greatly how much comes out. Applies to any machinery especially autos though as a large proportion is in the cooler and TC and doesnt just drop out when drain plug is removed.

They don't have a dipstick, there is a filler/level plug on the right hand side of the gearbox.

Pre 2003 or 04 they had a dip stick...after that they became a sealed unit. Obviously you have a newer one.

Assuming you are talking about the A750F (5 speed) they have a pretty good reliability record. Havent heard of a failure yet myself and a mate that owns one and has a 4WD workshop hasnt seen a failure.
Mine has 200K on it and is crisp and smooth still-never had a fluid change. Thinking of giving it a birthday though, even though Toyota dont list it as a service.

Interested to hear from anyone on here that HAS had a problem with one and what occurred?

Havent had a problem yet but had a service last week and the auto oil looks a

bit grubby and maybe a little burnt. Mechanic suggested it needs changing.

Not surprising after being fully loaded and pulling a rig totally 6100kg around for 44,000k over 12 months.

Getting oil changed next week.

can you let me know how much they charge you for it? Is Toyota doing it?
And how many K's has it got on it?

Its done 132,000 of which the last 44,000 has been mostly towing the van

is getting done at an Auto place at Osullivans Beach Rd Adelaide on Jan 12th

Est price 200+ depending how much oil is used to flush it out.

I didnt actually get to sniff the oil only went on what the mech said.

Am going to put an oil temp gauge on it as well while we are working on it.

Will post results..
