I don't think those ones have any scanning capability, which some might think is a drawback. Great for vehicle to vehicle stuff, though. I have a Uniden handheld (which scans) which is good for communicating with my in-vehicle UHF, and when I hook up an extension speaker, also serves as a useful PA system. But at $76.83 the Big W ones are good value just the same.

Hi Toonfish:

Sorry for the delayed reply - just back from Qld.
But no, you did not see me in Bendigo - the sticker you saw is one that is available from the Vietnam Vet's Association in most states. I have one, but it is not on my 4WD...and I am "one of those" : )

But I very much liked the sentiments and adopted the "tag".

Cheers

Hi Toonfish:

I was in 7 RAR prior to heading to SVN, then 5 RAR, and was then transferred to HQ1ATF (D&E Platoon) over there. I was a Nasho - 2nd intake (1965 in, 1967 out). And plenty of good mates whom I still see regularly.

Up until 6 months ago they were all mad golfers (excluding me), and I took them with me to Fraser Island in my 80 Series, and now they all have 4WDs. Got a "soft" trip organised for next week up around the Mudgee area of NSW so that they can have a little fun. : )

Look forward to meeting up one day.

Take care
Jack

My son has a set of hand held from Woolies and gives them to the kids..They chatter between wagons and leaves us blokes and "perfect navigators" to do our own thing. Put them on an inocculous channel and they think there doing there bit
