Having just nearly worn out a set of tyres (65,000 klms) I am trying to buy the most appropriate tyre for my needs. Those needs centre around towing a 3.2 tonne caravan around Aust. A friend tried to talk me into buying a set of Michelins but they are far too expensive (around $450 per tyre). I travel mostly on bitumen roads while towing with only a small percentage on gravel so would like what would be regarded as a quite road tyre. I have heard all stories about the virtues of different brands but would greatly appreciate some guidance as to the longest wearing, cheapest, quiet tyre. Any suggestions?

Hi. I have been running Falken tyres for 40000Km so far and have been very happy. I purchased them almost 3 years ago and at that time they were $222.00 each, at least $50 per tyre cheaper than the popular brands at the time. I have rotated them regularly and they still have 3-4mm of tread left. They are also very quiet on the road.Regards,Bob

If you got that mileage out of the ones you have why not buy another set the

same and use some of your old ones for spares.

We are towing full time and the BFG's are only down to 6mm after 44,000k.
