Guys, doing the rounds looking at the various roof racks, reading old posts etc. Any feedback on the ARB alloy racks? Does the amplimesh whistle as badly as the steel? General feeback. Wanted to mount a kayak, collect firewood, spare wheel for touring etc. More likely to be able to remove the alloy rack when not required if alloy due to weight.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
I was looking at one for my LC200 and came accross a "Hannibul". In the beginning I was not sure as it did not have a guard around the edge but the wife wanted it etc.
Now a year later I am happy I got this one (not telling the wife however). It is black alloy and is perfectly flat on top. The great thing however is, that it has slip in tie down track all around the edge and running length wise as
well.
This makes carrying things very handy from
camping and travelling things, to everyday hardware items (flat sheets).
The weight and cost are the same as
well. They also have special canvas bags that mount as
well as custom jerry can holders that fit the roof rack. Give it a Google. Hope this helps.

G'day Mike.
I bought the 2.2 metre ARB mesh floor alloy roof rack this year & put it on my Patrol wagon. It is the first typical roof rack I have owned & I was impressed.
Only used it for 1 trip & sold the car.
Only carried a spare tyre casing & tent & gas bottle on it.
Found the powder coating to be very tough. It stays on very
well.
Found it to be very strong. I weigh 120 kg & it carried me without flexing much.
Never noticed any wind noise at all. We travelled quite a bit with the windows down.
I never removed the rack but I did move it forward & found that very easy to do on my own. I think the gutter clamping system would make it easy to remove. You can completely remove the clamps & it will stand on the legs.
All the adjustments can be done with the supplied Allen Key.
About the only down point is the $1800 fitted price tag.
