G'day

I am in the market for a new set of boots for my 100 Series TD, and was looking at either the Cooper ST's or MT MTZ's, basically either an aggressive AT pattern or mild MT pattern, when I stumbled across the Goodyear Durtracs. They look perfect for what I am after and the US reviews I have read online are pretty good, is anyone here in Australia running them and if so what are your thoughts?

I do a bit of driving on SA outback roads, a reasonable amount of harsh rocky trails that range from mild to challenging as they are literally five minutes drive from home, and unfortunately a lot of bitumen miles. Have run MTZ's and MTR's before, so they are known quantities.

Thanks in Advance

Snowy

Hi Snowy,

I'd love too. I want a set for the Wrangler but can't as have 17in rims. They don't do that size here in Aus, yet. If you have 15 or 16in rims then I'd certainly be getting a set of them as they are, as you say, just right.

Hi Snowy,
I seen these a couple of months ago and thought the tread would be ideal for a bit more aggressive AT.
Then 2 weeks before Xmas we were camped next to a Navara fitted with them, the owner said he'd had them for 20,000km and was quite happy, but he had not been far off the bitumen to really try them out.
I read a US review where two people said they did not like the swerve recovery characteristics and one guy said he thought they were unsafe while the other reviewer found they performed better with a higher pressure in them.
I then inquired at Bob Jane and was told there were none in the country and the RRP is $395.
You will have try them for us!

My son is looking at them for his Navara Les.
Not sure of the size but I think it might be a 235 or 255 x 75 x 16. All I can be sure of is that it is a 16" rim.
He was told around $290 a tyre fitted at a Goodyear franchise (Tyremarketers Australia own it.)
Don,t know it the tyre size compares with what you are chasing, but there is certainly a big price difference. I deal with this tyre shop & get tyres a bit cheaper, but not that much cheaper. Might be worth asking around.
There were no stocks in the country of the size my son was asking about at the time, but they were due in before Xmas.
The bloke that runs the shop recommended them straight up. He & his son are both running them & they are impressed. I think he is pretty honest in his opinion & it is not commercially biased. In the 5 years he has been running this shop he hasn't spun me any BS yet.
