Hi Guys. My son has a Jayco Eagle Camper. With it connected up to the tow vehicle and plugged in everthing works ok lights, elec brakes etc. As soon as he turns the 3 way fridge to 12volts whilst towing the tail lights,
parking lights and electric brakes all come on. no problems with tow vehicle With fridge off all is ok. Fridge works ok on 240volt. Used to work ok just happened.Camper is just over 12months old so he may be able to go back to jayco under warranty.I suspect an earthing prob with fridge. Anyone had this fault.

It sounds like you have an earthing problem somewhere in the Van, or some crossed wires in either the Plug on the van or the socket on the vehicle.
By the sounds of it I'd vote for an earthing problem too.

What type of vehicle is the tow vehicle?
Some of the modern vehicles use canbus/mulitplex wiring looms to the rear of the vehicle and the docoder gets the signal and acts on it to illuminate the lights you require. If the fridge is interferring, wired into the rear power supply, causing a large current draw then this might be causing the unusual light function.
This is not something to stuff around if thats the case..damage can be expensive. From memory we worked on a Merc Sprinter that has masses or rear lighting issues and it was all caused by the van crushing the trailer plug when going down a gutter.
I hope you get it sorted..
Matt.

He did say it WAS working and has just started playing up
Perhaps take the two parts of the connection to bits and tighten all connections as they loosen over time
I do
mine about every 6 months and they always take up a bit.
Had that trouble with my rig till I worked out that Pin 2 (AUX) actaully had the van reverse lights connected to it.
Ran a new wire from the battery that fixed it

??
So I guess a fridge hooked up to inadequate wiring over time will not degrade the wire?

Skeety
Plenty of info on thread id 74697 about using the Aux pin on the trailer plug to try and charge van battery.
Again Im not sure what vehicle you are using or how you have the wiring setup but reading that thread might help you a little.
All the best
Matt.

Possibly but wasnt the object of my answer.
Was more along the lines of connection problems.
I didnt run the fridge on my old van from the car when travelling as it had big batteries and solar charging
On my new one I have a 6 B&S cable thru an Anderson Plug

First things first. When you get electrical problems with your van lights - spread the pins a little to restore the connection tension. To do this just run a thin knife blade down the split in the pin. Don't make
the gap too wide or you will not be able to mate the plug.
