Hi again
A question for those who have been there. Which has the higher standard of on-site accommodation in
Birdsville, the Hotel/Motel or Caravan
Park?
Thanks again
Bruce M

If you want to
camp next to a
billabong and away from the amenities then the Caravan
Park is the go ..Birdlife is amazing there...
We were there in Spetember parked right on the edge ...
Cheers
Steve

The accomodation in the
Birdsville Hotel was really good and the evening meals were good, don't know about the caravan
park.
But one tip even if you are staying at the hotel, go to the
bakery for breakfast rather than having breakfast at the hotel, better quality, and a whole lot cheaprer. $50 for two lots of self-serve bacon and eggs on toast is a tad excessive, even for a remote location.
The trip we done up that way, of
Birdsville,
Innamincka and
Marree, all of them were good, but
Innamincka was by far the best for accommodation and meals.
Cheers
Snowy

They also provide huge pots of good tea - almost more than 2 can drink and for the typical cost for a pot of tea for 2 elsewhere.

The caravan pk has self contained cabins, but you might need to book if in season.

Hi Bruce, Both were good when we stayed yrs. ago but Caravan
Park cabins were nicer,. and better value for the money. We stayed at the Motel one night because of family association in the pioneering days. The
Park has changed hands since then I think. The people running it then wanted to retire. Agree with the others in that you have to book early. It doesn't allow you to have any hiccups or stop to smell the roses. Also depends on when you want to go as already said. We went in late August and not too busy at all. Safe travels. Take care. Bye, Sally.

Just back from
Birdsville, the
camping ground units are great. Didn't plan to go to
Birdsville but with all the roads closed ended up there and stayed an extra coupla days, yes the bird life is awesome! I'll post a thread shortly "back from Birdsville".
PS the
Bakery is closed for a few months over summer.
