Need a better towing vehicle and have waited and waited AND WAITED!!!!!!! for NISSAN to follow up their brilliant 3.0l, now 10 years after the first release of the 3.0l still no sign- of an towing vehicle!!!!!!!!!,

Good-by NISSAN hello Toyota 4.5 V8 turbo, sadly going shopping for a LandCruiser tomorrow.

I agree. I would think it would be a huge weight off his shoulders waiting for the Grenade to go bang.

Know how you feel.
Picked up a new 200 T/D last week and have to sell my 2002 4.8 Patrol which has never let me down in over 147,000 kms. My elder son is driving it this weekend which makes me feel a bit better.
In over 30 different cars I have never got attached to any - but this one.

Hope the new Landcruiser is as good as the old bullet proof Patrol, However, love the power of the T/D V8.

Wake up Nissan - we are all sick of waiting and your not giving us an option!!!!!

You make an interesting point, Nissan need to get thier product planning act together and give Patrol owners a reason and option to upgrade, paricularly in the engine dept.

In a few months I will have owned my 3.0Di for 8 years and would dearly love another Patrol, but at the moment the state of the art is at least a V6, twin turbo's 180KW/600NM so a new 3.0Di is not really an interesting option.

Mind you Nissan are not alone, I bought the 3.0Di at a time when the 100 had come out without a Turbo 4.2. At the moment a new Prado is out and would probably be a contender if it had a V6 TD, but Tojo are going to milk 12-24mths of suckers into the new model before they upgrade it, just like they did with the 100 and the last Prado. New model, old drivelines for 2 years, then what you really want arrives.

The 200 sounds like the goods but some of us with P platers in the family can't have a V8 and the value for money also looks questionable.

They tell me there is a 5 month wait on the 3.0 TDV6 180KW/600NM Discovery 4.

The inaction by Nissan will no doubt contribute to a continued major loss of market share as Toyota consolidates its position.

This will complicate the future decision by Nissan to even contemplate investing in new motors and technology to try and regain this market loss.

Don't hold your breath waiting for a miraculous new model to fix the issues with the company as considering its financial losses of recent time it may not be around to even produce one??

If you guys think Nissan will present a new model Patrol that is half decent to take off road, i think you may be in for a shock.. Nissan dont have a market share in the large 4x4 area anymore and are only getting sales now from people that dont want to spring for the extra 20 grand that Toyota are charging for the 200 T/D. With that in Nissans mind, they must be wondering if it is worth bringing a new model to Australia. I think the general view is that its over for the Patrol.. Michael

It looks to me like you are correct, we will get a version of some oversized SUV, designed for the USA, parts bin special (like the others) only not as well executed and not much cheaper either probably.

I'm going Land Rover they are the only ones taking the ball forward in the wagon stakes at the moment.

Of course I'm not sure of what you need to tow, but if you're happy with the Patrol, the 4.8 Petrol is a superb tow vehicle (not quite in the class of the 200 Tojo), but miles better than a 3 L Grenade.

And 30 grand will buy you a lot of Petrol. Or you could fit LPG if it works for you wherever you live.

Just a thought.

Jim.

Disclaimer: LPG may be expensive and/or have limited availablity in remote areas.

Good decision.
I ordered my LC200 TD on December 24.
Dealers told me that was the cutoff date for March delivery by Toyota Australia.
So you may want to check on delivery dates when you go shopping.
Cheers

I'd also be looking at the Discovery 4 Twin Turbo 3.0 if I were you...

New model even has trailer stability control.

The old Land Rover jokes don't wash any longer. Driven them for 40 years, 2nd to last one was a Disco Tdi, 398,000K's without a hicup. Now have a 2008 Freelander 2. Only thing better would be a Range Rover Sport or Vogue. Out of both our leagues.

I can understand your reason for feeling sad. I have a Nissan Patrol 4.2 TD as a private vehicle and drive a Landcruiser 100 series for work. It is a pleasure to drive the patrol after the tojo.

I would be sad too if I had to trade down to a Toyota. I may have to do this in the future unless Nissan replace the grenade with a reliable motor which is not undersized.

My Nissan has only done 200,000 kms so I shouldn't have to upgrade for another 400,000 kms.
Life's great and it just keeps getting better
