This question has been asked before but I cannot find it now.
My Eee PC has died again and I wanted to run OziExplorer on my old IBM Think Pad with Windows XP Pro and cannot get it to work (the BU-353). We have just brought a Samsung with 10.1 inch screen running Windows 7 and it won't work with it either. Plus when I get back the Eee PC it will have a new hard drive so I imagine it will not work on it either.
Ok so it looks like it will only work with the first computer you plug it into is this true? It the thread I read (should have saved it) I think there is some way around this. I can not find any thing when I Google this problem
All help muchly appreciated.

Hi Bruce,
there is no reason why it shouldn't work on either machine, providing you have it set up correctly and installed the driver correctly.
In OziExplorer, (1) make sure you have "NMEA Only" selected under GPS in the configuration file (2) under the "COM" tab, the baud rate is set to 4800. (3) that you have the correct 'port' selected.

You can use the software that came with the BU-353 to check that it is operational as well. Hope this helps.

This may be a silly question.... BUT.... Have you run the instalation software for the BU353? Also have you run the software (also on the instalation CD) that allows you to check the BU353 is operating correctly?

Have you run a port checker? Because it really sounds like you don't have the right port selected. One more thing, are you opening the "moving map" control box and starting the GPS from there?

This could be a silly answer Fred.....but I don't believe I got a cd/dvd soft ware with the BU-353 when I purchased it may be it was on a sd card? Am all up to date with moving map and port checkers.

Bruce

After downloading, make sure you install the drivers BEFORE plugging the USB device in.

Bruce

Yes.Mine is a 9" jobbo. I did make a warranty claim on the inbuilt mouse device - left key gave up the ghost, they gave me a warranty claim # but I was in the middle of changing vehicles (as u know) so now just use an external mini mouse. No problems.

Try this as an experiment. Rotate your screen 180 degrees. Let me know how easy it is driving that mouse upside down to get it back to normal. LOL.
