Hi All
I have a problem with our new (to us) Prado. When I drive through a decent bump the grab handle near my head on the drivers side sneaks over and gives me a good smack above the lug hole. this can only happen so many times before the handle is damaged beyond repair. Can anyone suggest something to cover up the holes after I take it off? Is there a factory cover like the 79 series cruisers have?

Cheers Big Nick

G'Day Graham
There is a vast difference between headroom above and to the side between the 100 series and the Prado when you are 6 foot 5". I don't have a problem with my other real cruisers.

Gooday Nick,
how about looking at from the grab handle's perspective.... permanently fixed in place, minding it's own business.... and this "large nong" comes along and smacks it around... Poor grab handle..... lol...!

G'Day Fred
This is my problem, if I keep smacking it with my scone I will eventually stuff up the handle. Its lucky it hits me in the head otherwise it could easily do me some damage.

I used to have this problem in Falcons. Seeing as how I used to do 80,000 k in built up areas per year I was quite concerned as to what would happen in a collision.
It is a big potential for brain damage.
Another one a lot of people aren't aware of is the post in the middle of the car & the bolt holding the seatbelt to it.
You should always position your seat so your head is not beside the post & position the slide adjuster for your seatbelt away from your head height.
Better still, get side impact air bags.

Nick

Had the same problem
Removed the handle(2 screws)
Found washer large enough to cover the holes and replace the screws
Put handle in safe place where you won't look when it's time to sell

Hope it helps
