Hi all I had a problem with my electric side of my dometic fridge freezer stop working and thanks to George Days Staff and fridge techy I find out that these fridges are very prone to power spikes which destroy the heating element. Solution spike protector fitted into power point then fridge power plug into this and problem fixed apparently very comin in caravan parks and WA where we have lots of power serges etc cost $40 for surge protector dick smiths, hope this is of some help to all caravaners out there regards Alan.

Hi all. Good one Alan, i was living in an esperance caravan park in the early 80ths and kept blowing the 240 elements and at 50bucks each was becoming a problem till a local told me of the spike problem especially when the big ships would come into town and hook up to mains supply i ran mine on gas from then on and that fixed the problem but surprised they still have spikes all the time still but will get a surge protecter for the fridge Thanks again for the heads up Allan Yours PK
