Greetings,
Has anyone attended one of these previous re-enactments (of
Cook's careening, I presume) and, if so, what was your reaction?
Cheers,
DB

If you are in the wrong neighbourhood don't expect a good nights sleep. It can be a wild weekend.
Do your research
well.

We have attended several of these and I find it to be a good weekend . It is not as wild as it once was although you will always get a few yobbos . Just don't stand to close to the front of the cannon when they fire it as the noise is a bit painful on the ears , especially for small children . The re-enactment is great and worth seeing. The billy cart races is another highlight and there is always something happening to keep you entertained . We missed last year but will be going again this year If possible.
All the best
Kev

Dicky
That whole Long weekend in
Cooktown is good fun.The amateur actors do a great job dressed in authentic costumes to recreate the event. We were glad we were there in town at the right time, and enjoyed ourselves, but then again, maybe we had been out in the bush too long.
