For those who need a cheap GPS unit Harvey Norman has these units for $198 - cheaper than eBay!
I haven't hacked
mine yet (to run OziExplorer) but it looks like it should be easy.
So if you need a moderately sized display (4.7"- I hate imperial units), on a name brand GPS this might be the go for you. Slightly bigger units direct from China are cheaper, but the Mio Map software is probably better.
It seems to have about 2 GB of internal memory, and is preloaded with maps of US and western Europe which you are supposed to buy a key to unlock. It doesn't have an SD card slot but can be programmed by USB cable.

I have had 2 MIO's would not have one at any price. The repairer had them more than I did and still did not fix it. As they say buyer beware.

It has a micro SD slot next to the USB port. Am in the process of converting Ozi map to load up and start using it for OziExplorer on a motorbike.

aS Territory29 attests, you get what you pay for, if you want a good GPS that will give you good service then go spend a few more $$ and get a Garmin or Magellan,

Hi all
I think the idea of getting an unlockable WindowsCe based device is the ability to run OziExplorerCe (and other CE based programs) and I am pretty sure this was the point of Bobs post. Mios (Navmans in disquise) are actaully
well made (we are not talking a chinese ebay job here). I, up untill recently, had one (Mio 720) and it worked fine..and I had the pleasure of running the standard Mio maps, OziCe, and Garmin Xt all on the one unit - maps/airphotos for all occasions!
Nothing wrong with Garmins/Magellan units aimed at same market (basically in car units..not handheld) but you need to make sure the maps available for these units are all you will every need as they dont have versatility in this area that other options do (i.e. an unlocked Mio). Some of the garmin and magellan handhelds now can use raster maps/airphotos (in addition to vector maps) which is a step in the right direction.
Cheers
Greg
