Hi all,
Just bought a new vehicle for the good wife & I need to attach the old e-Tag device to the new windscreen... Got it off the old no worries, any suggestions on the best fitment method for the new vehicle? I was thinking rear vision adhesive glue?
Cheers

The etag itself comes off the base which stays permanently attached to the windscreen - I assume you levered off the old base - when you got your etag you should have got a spare base use it. If you do not have one they are free from the RTA.
I have bases in all my vehicles and just switch the actual etag as required.
Also it is good to know that as long as you have the rego number listed on your account you do not actually need the etag itself. When you go through without the tag a
pic of the number plate is taken which is linked to your account and the fee appears on your account as normal - there are no additional fees over the toll.
But to answer your question - yes rear vision glue is OK but the original bases use good quality double sided tape - so just get some of that - the cheap stuff falls off after a little while though.

It costs more without the etag.

Royce is correct - there's usually a 'matching fee'.

No there is not - the extra fees only apply if you do not have an account. If you have ann etag account and forget to put you tag in the car you just get charged as normal.
If you do not have an account then you pay the extra admin fees.

Well you need to change your account then or ring the RTA and find out why you are being overcharged.
It was the RTA who advised me this after wanting to get a second etag - advised no need as outlined above - the tag now stays in one car the other without the tag does not attract extra admin fees.

Yep... just checked again. The RTA has nothing to do with it. Citylink charges 0.75c extra for no tag. Same for everyone. I suggest you get another tag. Citylink is a separate body to RTA, just like private
carpark companies... IMHO they have a lot in common!

What if I have the eTag in the car but their readers fail to detect it - will that cost me extra ?
They can't tell the difference between the Reader failing to detect the eTag and no eTag in the car.

Yep.. it's happened to me. I had the etag sitting on the dash going in and on the way out it had fallen to the floor.... charged extra for that trip.

Bunnings have a new type of stick on velcro called True grip/ sure grip. The old type used to peel off in the heat but this ones does not. Fantastic for things like Etag. Then when you need the remove the mount it comes off with "some effort", wipe the remaining glue with shellite and your done.
Sticks to dash boards as
well. I then stick a piece of matching carpet over the top. If you then put a bit of velcro (hook) on phones etc, you can drop them onto the carpet and no sliding everywhere.
