As some of you will know, I lost my husband last November, while in the middle of an open ended trip (four months in, 20,000k around top end of Qld) - anyway I had the need to come back to Melb, and decided to drive down minus the caravan. My grandson, 15, elected to come with me. I personally had never driven that distance before, but thought I could do it no worries.
Left Kalbar on Tuesday last, and arrived at friends caravan park in Porepunkah (near Bright) on Wednesday late afternoon. Tired, but satisfied with myself.
Saw a lot of evidence of big waters in several rivers, some creeks that I have never seen water in, were flowing very rapidly - no water over road, but evidence that it had been there.
I will be driving back on my own (Josh has to fly back to go to school), but will take maybe five days or so, just take it very easy, maybe not use the Newell this time.
Anyway, I think John would be proud of me for tackling it, and proving to myself that I am very capable.
Safe travels to anyone on the road.

Good on you Julie for both getting on with your travelling and for writing about it. Hopefully it will encourage other women in similar circumstances when it must seem all too easy to just get into a quiet corner and stay there. Yes, your husband would be very proud of you. Well done and safe travelling,

Cheers,

Val

Hello Julie

Sometimes that saying Back Seat Driver is significant in your case, John is looking over your shoulder, go and enjoy your upcomming trip and many others to come.

Cheers

Well done Julie! You have a right to be proud of yourself! Take it a step at a time and you'll be cruising along with the caravan in no time!

We are on the Gold Coast, not too far from Kalbar, so if there's anything we can do to help you with the caravan etc.... just let me know and we'll come out.

Regards

Brian

G'day Julie,
Great to know things are slowly working out for you.
I can't begin to imagine the "road" you've travelled since November, but like others have said, I'm sure John is with you every step of the way.
Happy travels and stay safe.
Kindest regards,
Roachie
