Blaze (Berri)
Some may have seen Pesty's post about
Berri and the reference to the light show mother nature put on. This is the site for the EO gathering at
Berri but I can't promise a similar show.. LOL
I can promise some fun driving and some
water to jump in and paddle across.
Hope you like the pictures.

Wow - great photos Blaze. Do you take lightening on a time delay?
Cheers

I was there on the night and I have to say that it was the best display of lightning that I have ever seen. It went continuously for three hours and although Blaze's photo's are good, they don't do justice to the spectacular show that went on. (mind you, don't think any photo would do justice to the display) Pesty, PetenLez, Blaze and others just sat there in constant amazement watching the sky.
When I said the display was continuous, there was not a moment without lightning in the sky somewhere.

We camped at Piambe
State Forest on the 1st and had a similar show that night about 10:00pm - 2 and half hours of almost continuous lightning including 3 strikes within 200 metres of our
camp (2 across the river and one on our side). All in extremely heavy rain that tested out the tents ability to keep us dry.
Just as the storm was winding up we heard a huge crash as a tree came down (it sounded like it was next to the tent). When we got up the following day we found that the closest strike on our side of the river had brought down a tree across the access road. It was a dead gum that had been hit and blown apart about 20m from the ground. The top bought down 2 other trees as it fell so that both solved our firewood problem and as a bonus kept the pesky trail bikes and other random visitors away over the next few days. We only cleared the road to get out on Tuesday.
It was a very exciting night. In hindsight we should have jumped into the car but we figured that the trees would get hit before the tent and the car had the HF whip up which I didn’t feel like unscrewing in the conditions.
Cheers
Pete
