The Boss (Formerly Kroozer)
Can anyone out there tell me what Type A manual trasnmission fluid is please? In my owners manual for the BT 50 it lists this as the recommended oil for the gearbox and transfer, but it doesnt give a viscosity rating or anything. I've never heard of it, tried googling but nothing comes up except auto transmission fluids.
Even though it will be serviced by a workshop i would like to supply all the oils so i know whats being used instead of the cheap crap the workshops put in.
Cheers
The Boss

Look here
http://www.pennzoil.com.au/downloads/tds/Pennzoil_ATF_III_tds.pdf
Its an ATF which many manuals use.
Look in the second column.

Hi Boss
Landrovers have been using auto trans oils in their manual gearboxes since the early Discos came out.
Used it in my SWB series 3 Landy years ago and it was definately smoother though the gears.
Enjoy your bus.

Thats what ya get for buying a zoom-zoom machine!! lol The traitors be damned. If you had spent the extra 15000 on a toyo, ya woulda got a manual and know what oil it is!! So you have a choice, buy a $15000 dearer vehicle and know what the oil is, or save a bucket load of dollars, and ask your friends....
Seems like you made the right choice to me, and I am not in the Nissan/Toyota fraternity....
Cheers, Dave

The Boss,
You could try the castrol site they have listings for all types of oil.
I have found it a great help when i first got the fender.
Have a safe day
Cheers

Gday
My old Nissan had type" A" in the drop box.I was told by the gear box man to put in Castrol gear box oil, the same that is in the main box.
