For those with CT's, saw a great idea at our local outdoors shop, while travelling home from work today. They had a camper out the front all set up on display, but what caught my eye was the new "Tropical Roof" set up it had.
There is a company making tropical roofs, made to measure out of a similar material to that of what those sunshades are made from that go on the windscreen of the car. The shiny silver stuff.
I walked inside and put the back of my hand on the roof to feel the heat, and to my surprise there was bugger all. The tropical roof was actually laying directly onto the canvas as well, so it might even work better with some sort of a gap, like we used to have on ours when we had the big silver tarp over it on hot days.
Just thought it might be of some use to someone, here on the forum, as I hadn't yet seen this done anywhere else yet.

cheers Unc.

Hi,

I had a solar blanket made by Complete Campsite in Gosford
Web: www.completecampsite.com.au

I sent then a drawing and measurements of what I required to fit the roof of my Cub Supamatic escape off road trailer, approx 3 weeks later it arrived on the front door step here in Brisbane, Well made and good service, will certainly make a difference in the hot QLD days

Hi Unc

I bought mine from Cavalier. I chose the 14ft for extra cover at the ends. In winter I close windows & flaps and put my cobb inside (door half open to ventilate). In a Qld summer, on a longer stay an additional tarp over the lot helps even more.

A worthy investment I say.

Cheers.

Forgot to mention it also keeps bird droppings and other dirt of main canvas as well.

Hi Mandrake, check out these flexible solar panels. Don't know how good or efficient they are but thought I had read about them before. Sow an array of these to a tarp and "Bob's your Uncle". Sorry Uncle
Cheers

Hi,

Our Kimberley Kamper has a tropical high top as part of it's build structure, so it all unfolds and pops up in one. There is a gap between the canvas and the top. Reduces heat inside by a big amount.
