Hi All, We are off to Alice Springs for a very special event. Well we nearly weren't. We are going to be there in August for the 15th annual truckies hall of fame do. I rang every caravan park in Alice last night and there is not 1 site, powered or unpowered left in the whole town. We have heard it is like that a fair bit of the time. Finally got a piece of ground to put the van on I think, in a paddock if the lady gets permission from the council to use it like she does every year. There is no power though and she said she has every rent a toilet in the whole of NT booked for the 3 days. Lucky we are fully self sufficient. So if you are planning to be in Alice the last weekend of August for a holiday, you might want to think again.

I hope it is big enough for a 31 foot van, cause if the council dont come good with this paddock, we might be in it. I dont mind paying rent, water and electricity rates.................lol

I have been told that if you volunteer to work at the Hall of fame for a certain number of hours per week they will let you park in the grounds for free. Maybe an email or phone call could help you if you are prepared to help them out.

Hi Jack, you are right, you can stay there but for the do in August, all the volunteers get first choice of the powered sites which is fair enough for sure. YOu have to stay a minimum of 3 months before the event this year and help get everything ready for the weekend in August. As you can imagine those sites will be full, with the great volunteers who can give 3 months to get things right. We will hopefuly be in the paddock next to the hall of fame, next to the powered sites.

If we could have been there for 3 months from May, we would for sure. I say good on those who can take 3 months off to do it. But I believe alot of the volunteers are retired Gentleman.
