just for travellers interest

we are from adelaide and in october travelled from the gold coast to australia zoo area

we crossed the brisbane toll bridge and stopped to pay a few kays later at the service centre.

i just received a $23 invoice for the camper trailer ( $2.95 toll fee and $20 admin fee)

having just spent 1/2 hour on the phone to the calll centre it is all sorted out

If you manuallly pay at the service centre make sure you put the car AND trailer regos on the reciept otherwise you will get a bill for trailer
this may happen if you pay on the website also

it costs no extra for a trailer but the camera will still record the rego and auomatically send a bill as no payment was received

just saves a bit of hassle

cheers

mike

Gooday Mike,
looks like that lot couldn't organise a wet paper bag, even if you gave them the paper bag and a bucket of water... lol...
Can't be a good place to work with all the complaints they would get...
Glad you got it sorted..
regards

My experience is that at govia they have standard answers. A bit like a politician, the answer need not have anything to do with the question. I give up ringing as we only have a mobile. I just email and that way I have a record of what is said.

You try being the toll collector at the time of news release of transition to freeflow!

So the moral of the story is get an e tag or make sure when you pay at a service centre pay for the trailer as that would be the number plate the video has recorded and not your car.

I have an E Tag, so much easier and you can use it all other cities that have electronic tolling.

Yep. I'm afraid we have to accept that we live in a robot society. I must say I am surprised by the number of people who have slotted into the computerised society , but still resist the need to have an e-tag. For the peace of mind it gives me, I find the $60 setup in NSW to be money well spent. I live in the country but still spend about $60 a year on tolls, going to the airport or interstate travel etc. And there is absolutely no doubt that using the tollways in capital cities saves you time and money (Unless you are forced into peak hours).

Yep. That's the point I was making. Can't understand why people are reluctant to get them. Same price whether you're towing or not.

Unless they have changed it the Etoll tag is recorded from the front Thats why its on the windscreen.

Havent been back since it went cashfree.

It didnt work in Wa though as it never beeped once.

In SA we don't have tolls or any need for Etags so when we travel interstate, its a PITA.

Phil, just because you live in SA it won't get in your road, if interstate toll road travel is a regular, well even if it was twice a year, you could still get yourself a GOVIA Qld etag (it is the cheapest one of all the etags to set up, minimum $25 outlay for prepaid credit, the transponder costs nothing and your credit does NOT have an expiry date), and you are then covered for any toll roads used throughout Australia.

Gday Jo,
Yep, For me, I can't tell you the next time I'll use one. Last time, I think it was in melbourne I had to phone two different numbers because toll roads were owned by different companies. The original poster was from Adelaide too, so I understand where he's coming from!

This may well help explain why the shares I have in a toll company have gone up 27% in the last 4 months alone. Toll revenue seems to be out performing many other sectors. Wish I'd had the nuts to put more into it..

tell me more about this etag company name etc. We moved back into shares, Oz resource blue chips and some finace (cba) 7 months ago. Similar to better numbers but another company to research will keep me off of the streets.
